The axles are manufactured and developed in-house by Merlo, and can be equipped with differential lock to ensure traction on any terrain, regardless of how unstable. The 4-wheel braking system is power-assisted, ensuring maximum safety in any working environment, while the parking brake is activated automatically when the engine is switched off or manually from the cab. The brakes are all of a dry disc type, and guarantee unparalleled braking performance and efficiency, for a reduction in the machine's fuel consumption and maintenance costs.

The large loading bucket, with a capacity of 700 litres, combined with the rapid movement of the loading system, guarantees the shortest cycle times for this machine category. It is equipped with hydraulic lifting and rotation with automatic opening of the door for unloading of the aggregates inside the drum. The bucket design includes an attachment that facilitates the opening of the bags for loading the mixing element (cement, lime, etc.).Optionally, the machine can be equipped with a loading hopper instead of a self-loading bucket.

To maximise the efficiency of concrete laying, the drum controls are replicated on the outside of the machine, allowing the mix to be unloaded from the ground if the machine does not need to be moved.

Ground controls

Access to the cab is simple and easy thanks to the 180° opening door, the suspension seat swivels through 180° and, together with the controls replicated at the rear, allows comfortable barrel-side driving, ensuring comfort of use during loading and laying.

To achieve these standards of visibility, Merlo has invested in understanding the best positioning of the cab, barrel and engine, taking great care with the glass surfaces with the aim of ensuring fast, safe and precise operations.

The exclusive EPD (Eco Power Drive) is a Merlo patented system for electronically controlling and regulating the engine and transmission, ensuring a reduction in consumption by up to 18%.

The Merlo self-loading concrete mixer can be equipped with a hydraulic or electronic weighing system, allowing to program different mixes, store the flow of water filled, and print the report of the elements used during the work phase.

Efficiency

The machine hydraulic system is composed of a self-priming pump with 3-way diverter (drum, tank or washing lance). A hose allows supply from an external source and a lance is set up for washing the machine at the end of the shift.

The mixing drum, made of special wear-resistant steel, ensures perfect mixtures due to the geometric volume of the drum, exceeding the output capacity by more than 40%, and the low inclination angle and the unique double spiral propeller with variable pitch.

Cycle time

The four-wheel drive, together with the oscillating front axle, differential lock and high ground clearance, make the DBM the off-road mixer par excellence. In addition, it is possible to manage the steering with three different solutions: front wheels, pivot steering and crab steering.

Performance

The barrel is designed and fitted offset from the chassis, providing excellent visibility when driving on the construction site. In addition, when fully loaded, it allows the centre of gravity of the machine to remain unchanged, as the concrete mass is aligned with the centre of the machine.

Off-centre barrel

In order to increase comfort and safety during operations and vehicle manoeuvres, the DBM concrete mixers are equipped with a rear camera. A 7” colour screen allows images to be viewed directly from the cab, ensuring visibility in “blind” areas of the machine.

The DBM structure is made of high-strength steel. The water and diesel tanks, which are also made of steel, are housed internally to provide high protection for the components and ensure a high working autonomy, even in the most isolated locations with no infrastructure.
