Job Purpose:
The Warehouse & Yard Trainee will assist in the safe and efficient handling of machines, attachments, and parts in the yard and warehouse. This role provides an opportunity to learn about inventory management, stock control, and warehouse operations while gaining practical experience in a professional environment. The trainee will support the arrival, storage, dispatch, and maintenance of stock, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and the yard and warehouse remain clean, safe, and organised.
Main responsibilities include:
Wholegoods Arrival & Dispatch
- Assist with receiving containers and unpacking machines, attachments, and parts;
- Inspect incoming stock and report any damage or issues;
- Help complete necessary paperwork for stock receipt or dispatch;
- Support safe loading and unloading of machines and attachments;
- Place stock in the correct location to minimise damage or rust;
- Assist with hazard risk assessments as required.
Stock Management & Maintenance
- Perform inspections and help maintain machines, attachments, and parts in stock;
- Clean stock and remove protective coatings as required;
- Prepare machines for demonstration purposes under supervision;
- Assist in maintaining accurate stock records and filing documentation for audits;
- Support the service team in identifying and resolving minor faults or issues.
Warranty Parts Control
- Help ensure secure storage of warranty parts;
- Assist with organising and disposing of expired warranty parts under supervision.
General Yard & Warehouse Duties
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard, warehouse, and workshop;
- Assist with basic inventory checks and stocktaking;
- Follow company policies and safety procedures at all times.
Occupational Health, Safety & Environment
- Learn and follow safe work practices and environmental guidelines;
- Participate in regular training and audits to improve safety and efficiency;
- Report incidents, hazards, or near misses promptly.
Skills & Qualities

Work Requirements
- Moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 15 kg;

- Occasional work in workshop or warehouse environments;
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions at all times.
Training & Development
- On-the-job training in warehouse operations, stock management, and logistics;
- Opportunity to gain practical experience and learn industry best practices;
- Support towards completing a Certificate III in Warehousing/Logistics or similar qualification (if applicable).
