The fully electric telehandler will join the Compasso d’Oro Permanent Collection, reinforcing Merlo’s position as a global leader in sustainable innovation

San Defendente di Cervasca (CN), 28 May 2026 - A new prestigious international award celebrating Piedmontese industrial excellence and the strength of Italian innovation. Merlo, a leading manufacturer of high-tech construction machinery and telehandlers, has been awarded the ADI Compasso d’Oro Honourable Mention for the TFe43.7e, an innovative fully electric telehandler from the “Generazione Zero” range.
The award was presented last Friday at the ADI Design Museum in Milan during the Compasso d’Oro Awards ceremony, the world’s longest standing and most prestigious award dedicated to industrial design. The TFe43.7e was designed by Pier Luigi Porta, while its engineering development was overseen by Felice Contessini and Roberto Ravera.

Occupying a central position within the Merlo range, the TFe43.7e forms part of the well-known Turbofarmer modular models with portal axles. It's a medium-capacity machine equipped with a 7-metre boom and a lifting capacity of 4,3 tonnes. The vehicle’s full electrification allows it to operate with zero local emissions and exceptionally low noise levels. Designed for use in enclosed or environmentally sensitive environments, the TFe43.7e is ideally suited to barns, warehouses, industrial construction sites and indoor spaces, where the absence of harmful emissions and quiet operation provide a strategic advantage in terms of safety, comfort and sustainability.
With this award, Merlo further strengthens its position as an international benchmark in the work machinery sector, standing out for an industrial vision that successfully combines technological innovation, sustainability and functional design. For years, the Cuneo-based company has been among the leading ambassadors of Italian industry worldwide, thanks to exclusive patents and highly innovative solutions that have transformed the telehandler sector.

Instituted by the ADI (the Italian Association for Industrial Design) and recognised in 2004 by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities as being of “exceptional artistic and historical interest”, the Compasso d’Oro Award represents the highest international accolade in the field of industrial design. Established in 1954, the award honours the finest examples of Italian design distinguished by innovation, research and design excellence.
With this Honourable Mention, the Merlo TFe43.7e will officially become part of the Compasso d’Oro Permanent Collection, a historic legacy of Italian design.
