  • Design Approach & Ergonomics: An operational platform designed and engineered as a "work assistant," featuring a "Clear-Walk" cabin, an ultra-low 328 mm step-in height, a 3-step entry sequence, and flush automated sliding doors.
  • Architecture & Maneuverability: Cab-forward layout within a 1,750 mm overall width, a 5.85 m turning radius (with optional rear-wheel steering), and independent double-wishbone suspension for passenger-car handling dynamics.
  • Ecosystem & Range Modularity: 100% EV and REEV powertrains (up to 1.000 km total range with an onboard generator), the integrated Smart Delivery Locker® patent, and 14 operational configurations across 4 wheelbases and 3 weight classes.

September 14, 2026 - Cuneo, Italy – Merlo Group, an Italian industrial manufacturer specialized in telehandlers and heavy machinery, officially announces its entry into the light commercial vehicle sector through its newly established MeVe (Merlo Vehicles) division.

As part of this strategic expansion, MeVe introduces the ALLDO vehicle line to the global market—a project engineered, patented, and manufactured entirely in Italy, offering a rational, modular, and highly functional approach to mobility.

The vehicle’s first prototypes made their world premiere at IAA Transportation in Hanover, providing a key opportunity to share the first concrete results of this project with the market and gather valuable feedback from operators and industry professionals. This launch marks the initial development phase, paving the way for the next project stages and the vehicle's further refinement.

The Core Concept: Workflow Efficiency in Daily Operations

The development of ALLDO centers on considering the commercial vehicle not merely as a transport unit, but as an operational tool integrated into daily working routines. The product name plays on traditional Italian first names to personify the vehicle as a true "work assistant". The design addresses the practical demands of last-mile logistics, corporate fleets, and municipal services, where the overall productivity depends on usability, driver comfort, and the elimination of downtime.

This project combines the Merlo Group's expertise with the technological capabilities of our partners. MeVe is the Merlo Group's new venture dedicated to sustainable mobility. With our flexible, versatile, zero-emission modular vehicle, we aim to redefine the future of work vehicles. With MeVe and ALLDO, aesthetics and functionality merge to deliver a unique working experience.

Cab-Forward Architecture and Cabin Ergonomics

To maximize payload volume without increasing the vehicle's footprint, ALLDO adopts a cab-forward layout positioned entirely ahead of the front axle. This configuration enables the entire wheelbase to be dedicated to cargo space.

Featuring a compact 1,750 mm width and a standard turning radius of 5.85 meters (which can be further reduced via an optional rear-wheel steering system), the vehicle easily navigates 90-degree turns and operates with agility in historic city centers and Restricted Traffic Zones (ZTL).

The cabin interior—configurable from 1 to 3 seats with an advanced central or European driving position—is engineered to support drivers during high-frequency delivery schedules (exceeding 200 stops per day):

Optimized Access: A low 328 mm step-in height and an ergonomic layout reduce the cabin entry sequence to just 3 fluid movements (step, turn, sit), compared to the 8 movements typical of conventional vehicles.

Clear-Walk Cabin: The interior height enables operators to stand upright, while automatically folding passenger seats clearing a central corridor for immediate egress from either side.

Enhanced Visibility & Flush Profile: Traditional side mirrors are replaced by digital cameras (Digital Mirrors) with internal HD displays. The automated sliding door opens flush against the body without extending laterally, enabling safe curbside parking and driving with the door open up to 9 km/h.

Powertrain, Chassis, and Driving Dynamics

Built on a high-strength C-channel steel frame (Chassis Cab), ALLDO offers two electric powertrain options:

  1. Full Electric (100% EV): Modular battery options of 55 kWh, 75 kWh, or 110 kWh, delivering operational ranges between 200 km (urban) and 500 km.
  2. Range Extender (REEV): 100% electric drive paired with a high-efficiency, low-emission thermal engine operating strictly as an onboard generator. The system guarantees a total operating range of up to 1,000 km with a compact 40-liter fuel tank.

The chassis replaces conventional rigid axles and leaf springs with independent double-wishbone front and semi-trailing rear suspensions. This setup provides controlled roll behavior, precise steering, and passenger-car-like ride comfort under all load conditions. Optional rear air suspension enables drivers to adjust cargo bed height for dock loading efficiency. conditions. Optional rear air suspension enables drivers to adjust cargo bed height for dock loading efficiency.

Integrated Logistics and Smart Delivery Locker® Patent

ALLDO features a cyber-secure electronic architecture, configurable haptic touch consoles, display mirroring (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), and preparation for supervised autonomous driving (docking, washing, loading/unloading) within logistics depots.

To revolutionize doorstep delivery operations, MeVe has integrated the patented Smart Delivery Locker® system. Parcels are stored on automated internal sliding trays tracked in real-time by onboard scanners.

Upon arrival at a stop, the system automatically presents the required item at a dedicated side access hatch equipped with a laser guide, eliminating manual parcel searches inside the cargo hold and preventing errors.

Modular Platform and 14 Range Configurations

With the ALLDO line, Merlo Group introduces a solid, modular, and ergonomic industrial platform to the global market, engineered around the real-world demands of road transport.

The platform offers four wheelbase options (from 2,600 mm to 4,325 mm) and three weight classes: 3.5t N1, 4.2t N2 (driveable with a standard Category B driving license under European electric vehicle directives, offering a 1,100 kg payload), and up to 7.5t N2 Heavy Duty.

The chassis flexibility and bodybuilder integration module enable the design of 14 distinct operational configurations:

  1. Delivery (urban parcel logistics)
  2. Curtainsider (fast unloading and flexible cargo)
  3. Fixed Bed (general goods and materials transport)
  4. Tipper (construction and field utility)
  5. Van 2600 (compact short-wheelbase enclosed cargo)
  6. Van 3000 (extended enclosed cargo)
