Handling heavy materials with the Merlo Dumper
Discover how the Merlo Dumper optimises the handling of heavy materials on construction sites
Designed for transporting the most demanding loads
The Merlo DM9 Dumper has been developed to safely and efficiently tackle the most demanding heavy material handling operations in any working environment, even the most complex. With a load capacity of 9,000 kg, this machine is ideal for transporting large quantities of bulk material, debris, earth and aggregates: a key ally on construction sites, in urbanisation works, in mining and forestry operations.
The trilateral tipper body with up to 180° rotation allows precise and controlled unloading on both sides, reducing manoeuvring times and facilitating operations even in confined spaces. Permanent four-wheel drive combined with four-wheel steering and three steering modes ensures excellent mobility and the ability to overcome obstacles on all types of terrain, even uneven, muddy or with steep slopes.

Comfort and total control for the operator
The ergonomics of the driver’s seat is another strong point of the DM9. The cab, ROPS/FOPS certified to ensure maximum protection against overturning and falling materials, is conceived to offer comfort, visibility and user-friendliness. Access is facilitated by the wide 180° door opening, while the suspended seat, which also swivels by 180°, allows the operator to control operations both while driving and during loading and unloading.
The environment is soundproofed, air-conditioned and equipped with a digital display that allows the vehicle’s key parameters to be monitored. Panoramic visibility and ergonomic controls reduce fatigue and increase productivity even during long shifts, ensuring maximum safety at all times.

Power, precision and optimised fuel consumption
The 74.4 kW (100 hp) Deutz TCD 3.6 engine is the heart of the DM9, offering high performance with optimised fuel consumption and compliance with the latest environmental standards. Powerful and quiet, this engine can handle heavy loads and ensures smooth operation even on rough terrain or steep slopes.
The hydrostatic transmission allows the operator to adjust speed, acceleration and braking with extreme precision. The two-speed transmission promotes flexibility, allowing you to switch from slow, controlled manoeuvres to fast movements at speeds of up to 40 km/h. This reduces transfer times between distant work areas, improving site efficiency and the organisation of daily work.
Technical and functional components
The powertrain layout features a longitudinally mounted engine on the cab side, centrally positioned in relation to the chassis. This solution ensures optimum weight balance, improving the machine’s stability and dynamic behaviour. The 74.4 kW Deutz TCD 3.6 engine is equipped with a diesel pre-filter and water separator for high protection of the fuel system. Technicians’ work is simplified by the fully opening bonnet and the presence of a service platform with handrails and grab handles.

Efficiency in every detail
The 920 mm wide cab is designed to offer comfort to every operator, even when wearing bulky work clothes. The front windscreen can be opened to allow natural ventilation and, upon request, the machine can be equipped with air conditioning with a system integrated into the cab roof.
The loading body is made of high-strength materials: Hardox steel floor and high-strength steel walls. The shaped profile facilitates unloading and ensures a maximum heaped capacity of 4,900 litres (3,700 struck, 2,900 in water), with a nominal load capacity of 9,000 kg. The design is optimised for transporting high-density materials, up to 2000 kg/m3.
The self-supporting high-strength steel chassis ensures structural strength and durability. There are ladders on both front sides: on the right for access to the cab and on the left to facilitate maintenance work on the bonnet. The axles with portal structure and cascade reducers include a front oscillating axle and a rear fixed axle, increasing ground clearance and improving the vehicle’s off-road capabilities.

A cross-sector solution
The Merlo DM9 dumper stands out for its extreme versatility. It is used successfully in construction for transporting bulk materials, rubble, concrete and equipment. In mining and quarrying, it is used to move earth and debris even on unstable and uneven ground. In forestry, it effectively meets the needs of handling logs, stumps and plant residues.
Its compact design and ability to operate in silent mode also make it suitable for urban environments and environmental maintenance, where noise emissions and space requirements must be kept to a minimum. The DM9 is therefore a valuable resource for public bodies, construction companies, environmental operators and farms that need a powerful, safe and multifunctional vehicle.
Combining high performance, ease of use and long-term reliability, the Merlo DM9 dumper is the ideal solution for tackling the challenges of heavy material handling in the most demanding operating environments.
