Among Castles and goulash

castelli

Slovakia is well known all over the world for its cuisine and its castles. The most famous one is perhaps the Smolenice castle, sixty kilometres North-East of Bratislaw, at the feet of the Small Carpathians mountain chain. Built in the fifteenth century on a hill rising above the whole area, the castle has been the residence of several noble families until it was destroyed during Napoleonic Wars. Its reconstruction began in the early years of the Twentieth century and in 1945 it was declared State property. Some years ago it became the seat of the Slovak Academy of Science. The appeal of the fortress is enhanced by the park surrounding it, rich in meadows and ancient woodlands. For the maintenance of such a significant heritage, the authority managing the site chose a Multifarmer 30.6 Classic2 as the most effective machine to keep such an important area in order.
