Merlo patented continuous rotating joint.

The continuous slewing rotation on the ROTO handlers is thanks to the use of revolutionary patented rotating joint which conveys the commands between the slew and the undercarriage.
The hydraulic joint comprises a special stainless steel section which also permits the circulation of the hot water generated by the diesel engine for cab heating purposes.


Total reliability
The signals are processed by two-microprocessors, one on the slew, and one of the frame which act to convert the electrical signals into coded impulses. These microprocessors are totally reliable and waterproof and of compact dimensions.

Complete safety
The system is based on a principle whereby all the signals and commands necessary for operation are transmitted through a single channel which is not sensitive to the angular position of either the transmitter or receiver.

No maintenance feature
This coded signal transmission system eliminates the need for all electrical connections and the inherent limitations of the traditional sliding contact systems.
