Side engine – A Merlo innovation.

The decision to actually position the engine on the right side of the frame ensures access to the engine element at the side which embodies the various operating parts, so that the operator can undertake any interventions with his “feet on the ground”.
Merlo is proud of the fact that it was the first to have adopted such a solution in 1987 which has been since continually innovated. The fact that the engine is positioned parallel to the longitudinal machine axis ensures trouble-free access to even the most hidden parts, which is not the case with transversally mounted engines.

360° visibility
Just sit in a PANORAMIC cab and you will see that when the boom is lowered it disappears completely from view perfectly inserting itself in the space between cab and engine.

Ultra-low centre of gravity
The perfect balance between the cab and engine mass ensures that even the most sloping ground conditions can be easily tackled.

Complete accessibility
All the engine and drive parts are easily accessible in the event of any maintenance operations, and the operator can work with both “feet on the ground”.

Ultra compact dimensions
The machine weights and dimensions are lower than those of machines of equal performance levels featuring centrally positioned engine design.
