The PANORAMIC concept - Merlo Patent.
The Panoramic system patented by Merlo has actually revolutionized
the conceptual philosophy of telescopic handlers.
Merlo has always focused on a winning combination of technology and innovation,
and this reached its apex in 1987 when the idea was first conceived of
a telescopic handler with engine on the right side of the frame and with
a very low hinged boom, thereby offering the operator exceptional panoramic
visibility.
This was the concept behind the clever design of this handler, which has
been sometimes imitated, but which can never be matched in terms of the
intrinsic effectiveness of the original design.
The engine and cab are positioned to the right and left of the chassis
respectively allowing a space for the insertion of the telescopic arm
itself which, when lowered is totally disappearing.
Thanks to the care taken in the initial component positioning in the design
stage, the machine is highly stable and well-balanced. These features
being further assured thanks to the use of the hydrostatic transmission
and other devices such as the boom side-shift feature and the frame levelling
device, which have served to make this solution even more effective.
Total visibility
Whatever the visual angle of the operator, the total working area visibility
is always excellent.
Excellent stability
The perfect balance between the cab and engine weight ensures excellent
stability in every kind of condition, even on very sloping ground.
Total comfort
The intrinsic design of the handler focuses on driver comfort, and it
in fact boasts the largest operator cab (995 mm) currently available on
the telescopic handler market.
Great manoeuvrability
Thanks to the compact dimensions of the handler combined with the high-performance
engine, excellent manoeuvrability and precision are assured.
