When stones are not pebbles!

pietre

The French quarry of Saint Pierre Aigle in the Aisne region is not like any other quarry: here stones are not mere rocks and pebbles, but have a noble destiny.

The rocks extracted here have always been used to build and repair prestigious buildings and monuments: from Notre Dame to Saint Denis, from the Military School of Paris to the renovation of Versailles Castle.
Such precious materials require efficient and trustworthy machines for their extraction and handling. This is why - as Sylvain Laval, the quarry manager says – we have always chosen innovative machines with a high technological content for all the working phases.
What are the main features that made you choose a Merlo machine?
Resistance. We had already appreciated this on the other 4 Merlo telescopic handlers previously bought, and we have found it again on this model which, by mid 2005, has already totalled over 3,000 working hours on two shifts. An average of over 300 hours a month!
What are the uses of this handler?
The P 60.10 K is mainly used to transfer the extracted stone blocks to the cutting workshops, where they will be worked into slates or acquire the most varied shapes, according to customers’ needs. But its job does not stop there: it will also load the finished pieces onto the vehicles which will carry them to their destination, in France or abroad, wherever there are historical buildings to renovate.
